1. Introduction
UniGo is a platform that connects students with universities. Depending on the features available to your account, UniGo may allow you to discover institutions, view university profiles, follow campuses, read posts, comment, like content, send inquiries, receive notifications, and manage a personal or institutional profile.
This Privacy Policy describes how UniGo handles personal information. It is a working draft and is not a substitute for advice from a qualified legal professional.

4. Information we collect
UniGo collects information that you provide, information created by using the platform, and limited technical information needed to operate the service. Content you upload or create
- posts, captions, categories, images, and videos;
- comments and replies;
- inquiry and message text between students and universities;
- other profile or campus media.
Communication information
If you use inquiries or messages, UniGo stores the conversation, related lead records, read status, and timestamps so both parties can continue the thread.
Payment-related information
For university subscriptions, UniGo may collect the selected mobile-money method (such as MTN or Orange), the payer phone number, amount, plan, payment timestamps, and a billing history record. UniGo does not collect card numbers through the current in-app flow.
Notifications and device information
To deliver push notifications, UniGo may store a device messaging token and limited device information needed to register that token. You may also set in-app notification preferences.
Usage and technical information
UniGo may store account identifiers, timestamps, counts associated with posts or leads, theme preference stored on the device, and similar operational records. This legal website does not run an analytics product.
Information we do not collect
Based on the current UniGo implementation, UniGo does not collect precise device GPS location, does not run in-app advertising trackers, and does not store payment card credentials.
5. How we use information
UniGo uses information to:
- create and manage accounts, including email verification and password reset;
- provide discovery, profiles, posts, comments, likes, follows, and inquiries;
- display university information that institutions choose to publish;
- verify university accounts and review submitted documents;
- process university subscriptions and keep a billing history;
- send in-app and push notifications you are eligible to receive;
- maintain security, prevent abuse, and enforce the Terms;
- improve the product and fix errors;
- respond to support requests;
- comply with applicable law.
6. How we share information
UniGo may share information with:
- service providers that host authentication, database, storage, messaging, or related infrastructure;
- payment or mobile-money partners, if and when a live payment processor is used;
- the other party to a conversation, where you send an inquiry or reply;
- universities and students, to the extent needed for public profiles, posts, follows, and similar features;
- authorities, if required by law or to protect users and the platform.
UniGo does not sell personal information.
7. Public and private information
Typically visible to other users
Names and photos on profiles, university profile details that an institution publishes, posts, comments, likes, follow relationships that the product displays, and similar public or community content.
Not publicly listed as a directory
Passwords, verification documents, representative identification numbers, private inquiry messages (visible to the participants and authorised operators), notification tokens, billing records, and admin-only review data.
If you publish content, other users may see it. Do not include information in posts or messages that you are not willing to share with the intended audience.
8. Media and document storage
User-uploaded media is stored with a third-party storage provider.
Public media
Profile photographs, campus photos, post images, and similar content may be stored in a public media store so the app can display them to authorised users.
Verification documents
University verification files (such as government recognition documents and representative identification) are stored separately from ordinary public media. Access is intended for verification and administration, not for public browsing. UniGo takes reasonable measures designed to keep these files more restricted than public profile media.
9. Payments
Universities may pay for a Premium subscription (currently presented in the app as 5,000 FCFA per month) using Cameroon mobile-money options shown in the app (MTN and Orange). UniGo may record the operator, phone number used for payment, amount, and subscription dates.
A third-party payment provider may process collections. The current product also contains payment screens for ambassador-related services; treat those offerings as available only where UniGo actually enables them.
10. Third-party services
UniGo uses third-party providers to operate the product. Their role, at a high level:
- Firebase Authentication — account sign-in, email verification, and password reset.
- Cloud Firestore — application data such as profiles, posts, comments, leads, notifications, and related records.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging and related notification services — push notifications to devices.
- Cloud Functions — server-side tasks such as notification events.
- Supabase Storage — storage of public media and verification documents.
- Google Fonts — the UniGo app and this website load the Plus Jakarta Sans typeface.
- Device photo/camera access — used when you choose to pick or capture an image or video to upload.
Those providers process information according to their own terms and policies, in addition to this policy.
11. Cookies and this website
This legal website does not set its own advertising cookies, analytics pixels, or tracking cookies. It is a static site.
This website loads fonts from Google Fonts. Google may process technical information such as IP address when the font files are requested. The UniGo mobile app may store a theme preference on the device; that is local device storage, not a website cookie.
12. Notifications
UniGo may send notifications about activity such as follows, comments, likes, new posts from campuses you follow, inquiry messages, verification outcomes, and subscription-related events. You can adjust in-app notification preferences. Device settings may also allow you to disable push notifications.
13. Retention
UniGo keeps information for as long as needed to provide the service, meet legal duties, and resolve disputes.
If you delete your account, UniGo will take steps to remove or de-identify associated account data, subject to backups, legal holds, and information that must remain for security or compliance. Content you posted that other users still need for an ongoing conversation or that was shared publicly may not disappear immediately from every copy.
14. Security
UniGo takes reasonable measures designed to protect personal information, including access controls, encrypted transport where the underlying services provide it, and separate handling of verification files compared with public media.
No online service can guarantee that information is completely secure. You should use a strong password and keep your sign-in details confidential.
15. Your rights
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights including to:
- access personal information UniGo holds about you;
- correct inaccurate information;
- request deletion of your account;
- object to or restrict certain processing;
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
You can update much of your profile in the app. To request account deletion, use the Delete account page, or email fuanjiaakemfua@gmail.com. UniGo may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
16. Children and minors
UniGo is an education discovery product. Minimum age: 13 years
If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has used UniGo in a way that is not allowed, contact us using the details below.
17. Processing location
UniGo is focused on users in Cameroon. Infrastructure providers may process information on servers located in other countries. By using UniGo, you understand that information may be transferred to and stored in those locations subject to the provider’s safeguards and applicable law.
18. Changes
